Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Alle drei kennen sich: Die beiden Herausgeber dieses Buches, Werner Bergmann und Werner Boschmann, persönlich seit ihrem Studium Anfang der 1970er Jahre an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum; der eine blieb dort und wurde apl. Professor für Mittelalterliche Geschichte; der andere wurde Lehrer. Beide verbrachten ihr Leben natürlich weitestgehend im Ruhrgebiet, haben ihr „eigentliches“ Arbeitsleben beendet und freuen sich, in ihrem „uneigentlichen“ Monsieur Paillot näher kennengelernt zu haben. Denn der hat Mitte der 1790er Jahre die Altvorderen der Region besucht. Monsieur Paillot musste gezwungenermaßen seine Heimat verlassen und warf einen äußerst kritischen Blick auf das, was am Vorabend des Reviers so kreuchte und fleuchte.
